North Dakota is known for its COLD winters! When I say cold-- I mean C-O-L-D!! It is not uncommon to have -40-60 degrees with wind chill on occasion--which brings me to the introduction of Lucky!
One night just after Christmas, it was cold and windy and David and my brother David had gone out late to get a truck running. David called me and said they had found a stray cat that needed some help. The story is the this cat "jumped into their truck!" Imagine two big, tough guys picking up cold wet cat, literally on its last leg and feeding it beef jerky!
It makes for a great story...heart warming even! ;)
The truth is, the cat was in pretty bad shape! I called almost every vet in town and all of them told me to just put her down--not to bother with trying to save a stray cat. I found ONE vet that would see her! We took her in and the vet gave us 2 options. Put her down, or cross our fingers and hope she pulls through! Aiden was with me in the doctors office--of course I couldn't say put her down in front of my 6 year old, so $350 later we were headed home with a cat that could possibly loose body parts from the frost bite, and was born with a gimpy leg!
Just a few weeks later, Lucky had improved--she ended up loosing the tip of her left ear, and most of the claws on her back feet. She is still a little skinny, but has made herself at home! She has made me her human and keeps pretty close tabs on me! She is like a creepy little shadow, but for some reason we like her!
Although nursing a cat to health is super exciting--we were SUPER excited to get invited to spend New Years with some new friends, the Lee's!
I met Sara Lee at the pool in Makoti, and her daughter Tana goes to school with Aiden. Tana and Aiden have a little "kindergarten romance" and if things work out we will have great in-laws! :)
It turns out the Sara and I have LOTS in common! Its almost creepy! ;)
I will forever be grateful for going to the Makoti pool!
For Christmas, Santa brought Sassy and I gift certificates for Pedicures! What a smart man he is!
When I imagined what life would be like with a little girl--it included pedicures!
Sas wasn't quite ready for the entire spa pedicure experience, and wouldn't stick her feet in the water. But, she did enjoy having her toes painted--and since she was so good for her toes, they painted her fingers to match!
