An Idaho Trip

A month before we moved to the Makoti house, we made the Idaho trip to pack!!  Our cat Jet has made the commute with us since he was a kitten, so it has become second nature to him!!  He plops himself somewhere comfy and we are on our way!
David helped his dad get the crop planted and Aiden helped!!  He loves riding in the tractor with Dad and Grandpa Belnap!

David stayed for the week and then went back to North Dakota and left us to pack!!  Ewe!!  I decided very early on in the packing process that we have TOO MUCH STUFF!!!  We had discussed selling our Idaho house--and even had a realtor come and give us a list price.  But--because we are complete pansys and Idaho will always be our home, so we decided to keep it!!  My mom agreed to stay there and keep an eye on things and take care of the yard, so I felt good about that! We also didn't have to pack EVERYTHING and find a place for it all! BONUS!!

After 3 days of solid packing--I got in a little pampering and then the kids and I made our first "solo" trip back to North Dakota!
My Co-Captain took his seat in the passengers seat and we headed out!
The weather was NOT ideal!! It snowed and rained and the wind blew the whole time!  I am not the most confident driver, especially in bad weather!! So by the time we made it to Billings--I was exhausted!!
After breakfast the next morning--we made the rest of the trip!
Only 4 bathroom stops-7 viewings of Aladdin-2 Sassy meltdowns-4 cherry cokes- and LOTS of snacks later--we made it!  After that trip, I had a new appreciation for single parents!!  Doing everything alone is TOUGH!!

Time Flies!!!

I am making a comeback into the blogging world!!  This time--I promise to keep up with it!! Life has been so absolutely busy and crazy that I really should be documenting it all!!  (It helps that I now have internet and a working computer!)

Since I posted last, the Leprechauns and Easter Bunny found us, and the kids have both grown like weeds!!  I keep trying to make the stop--but neither one of them have decided to cooperate!!

Ady had her first hair cut--that's a momentous occasion!!  She thought it was great and giggled at herself in the mirror while Miss Jenni did her thing!!

Aiden has become his little sisters bud--and she loves to hug and kiss on him! They don't always get along--we have had our "she's touching me" moments--but for the most part they are best buddies!!

After spending an incredibly cold winter in the RV--we stopped denying that we could make that work for the long term!  Living in two places wasn't going to be do-able once Aiden started school, and David traveling alone, was not an option for me. Business opportunities for Real Enterprises were up for grabs, David and Rindee (our business partners) also saw the need to put down roots in ONE place and so we decided LIVE in North Dakota!!!

The search for a house was long and seriously depressing!!  North Dakota standards and Idaho standards are very different, and housing here is expensive!  We had picked out the area where we wanted to live away from the "oil field" and set out searching!!  For 2 months we looked at several different houses and realized we would have to lower our standards a tad or prepare to do some renovations!!!

Then one day--this little baby went on the market!!!
We made an offer on it just 3 days after it was listed and they accepted!!  Its a bit smaller than we were used to--but larger than an RV! :)

After a few coats of paint and some minor adjustments--it feels like home!!

If you would have asked me a year ago if I would be living in North Dakota, I would have laughed in your face!!!  That wasn't the plan--but it is where we were meant to be right now!!

Happy Valentines Day!!

We were home in Idaho for Valentines Day--David had to stay in North Dakota for a few extra days, so the kids and I hi-jacked Aunt Rindee and she made the drive home with us!  I usually go overboard for "insignificant" holidays--call me crazy, but its fun!

We had our traditional valentines breakfast of pink-heart shaped pancakes and the kids got some fun surprises!

Then, my cute little valentine kiddos and I went and took Grandma Rita to lunch!
(We couldn't waste these very cute Valentines outfits!) :)

The Baby!

Meet "The Duramax!"  This is David's 2nd love--and its only 2nd because it came after me!! ;)  5 years ago, David had a pretty truck--he sold it because he NEVER drove it, and we had medical bills from Aiden's surgery.  He said goodbye to the old duramax and always had a dream of getting a new one!  Little did he know that he would actually get a NEW one!!  This baby had a total of 16 miles on it when he drove it off the lot!

It took some prodding from me for David to actually spend the money on it, but I figured that he needed to have something to show for all of his hard work!!

The "Duramax" came directly home from North Dakota and to the car wash!  Talk about a nervous-nelly when we went through the auto-wash!  David was more nervous about that, then we was when Aiden was born!!

This was the PERFECT truck when we bought it!! David swore that it was EXACTLY what he wanted right off the lot!  It wouldn't need ANYTHING else!!  --- Silly me to actually believe that!  In the 10 days that we were home after we bought it--it spent 3 of them in the shop getting more "accessories!"  And David wonders why I need "accessories!" :)

Little Girly Things!

Adylin is a GIRLY-GIRL!  She likes all the fun girly stuff--which I LOVE!!  There isn't alot to do in the winter in North Dakota--it gets pretty boring stuck in an RV all day--so while Aiden does boy things; i.e-Tackling the cat, playing nerf wars with his stuffed animals, or legos--Sas and I do some girly things!!

We paint fingers and toes....
And we do pretty girly hair!!
And--we take pictures of the finished product!! She is a beauty queen!!

Daddy's Little Girl

This little girl can get this Daddy to do WHATEVER she wants him to!! Including squeezing himself into her tiny bed to "snuggle" her before bedtime!

New Years Nerf Gun War!!

We started a new tradition this year at our house!  We started the annual Belnap Nerf Gun War!!  We spent a ridiculous amount of money on toy guns and ammo and split up into teams and shot each other!! :) Aiden LOVED it and decided that this was the BEST tradition EVER!!

A Proper Resting Place

Before my Dad died, he requested the he be buried in Chester, Idaho!  Chester is a TINY little place, with a few houses, a vacant convenient store, and of course a cemetery.    Among those buried there are, Lionel Clifford Hathaway, My dads Grandpa and name sake.  My dads Great Grandparents, John Wesley and Adyline Clifford Hathaway-by childrens namesakes, and their daughter- Deborah Jane.

When I was a kid, the cemetery was surrounded by an old, unsturdy fence that my Grandpa Hathaway had built.  It was a place forgotten by most--the headstones there were barely readable, and there was fear that one day the fence would come down and some how that part of the cemetery would be forgotten and eventually--gone.  My dad always had a special place in his heart for that place,  I think it was because his dad cared so much about it.  We would go there every memorial day and plant flowers and clean around the graves.  It became a family tradition. Dad cared so much that about 8 years ago, he bought new headstones for all of the graves there.  After LOTS of calls to the cemetery board, we finally got them to put a new vinyl fence around it.

When Dad told me that he wanted to be buried in Chester, I cried--and cried!  I had felt the fear of having my dad there--in the middle of nowhere.  But, he was insistent that he be there.  He got his wish!  He is buried there between his Grandpa and Great Grandpa, with a beautiful  view of the Grand Tetons.

Around Christmas time, Dad got his headstone.  It is beautiful and it reminds me of him.  I still have a hard time believing he is actually gone--the headstone almost made it all more real. I still get a lump in my throat when I see it, and I still have to remind myself that he is gone.

I visit whenever I am in Idaho--and I try to make sure he knows that he is not forgotten!  Its silly really, because I know that he isn't actually there--but somehow I feel closer to him when I visit.  Aiden likes to leave presents for Grandpa when we visit.  He wrote a post card to tell him all about North Dakota so that he knew where we had been!

I was home for Valentines day, and I was able to take a Valentine to my very first Valentine! :)  I miss him--Not a day goes by that I don't miss the "old" him--the pre-new wife him, the pre-cancer him.  The him that he was to me!  The him that I wished everyone could remember him as!  Someday, I hope to understand the reasons that bad things happen, and why things work out the way they do!

Christmas 2013

Christmas this year was a little different for our family!  I had a hard time getting into the Christmas spirit this year.  It was the first Christmas without my dad, and we were in North Dakota--so not really my idea of a great Christmas!
But--it turns out Christmas was extra special to me this year!  My brother and his family came to North Dakota for Christmas too, and I have to say--it was one of the best Christmas'   ever!  We were able to put our little tree up at an apartment in Plaza.  Santa found out where we were planning on being and left us a HAUL!!
My brother and I went on Christmas Eve night and made sure to leave Santa some cookies, and Santa left the kids a thank you note for their gift!:)

Christmas morning we woke our kiddos up at 5:00am--(the Hathaway kiddos were up at 3:30am--just waiting for us!)

We drove to Plaza, where we found stocking stuffed to the brim and LOTS of presents under the tree!  The kids were so excited that Santa had found them!!
Aiden got all the things that he had asked Santa for!!

Adylin was a little annoyed with the early  morning wake up at first--but as soon as she figured out that the packages all the kids were ripping open contained pretty fun new things!

Uncle David apparently didn't get everything he asked for, so he wanted Aiden's toys and Aiden wasn't going to share!!
We opened presents and then had yummy breakfast before going home for naps!!  That was the perfect gift for me!
Christmas ending up being perfect!  North Dakota and all!

Aiden played with the kiddos most of the day--I had the stomach flu and spent most of the day lying on the couch!!  A not so perfect ending to a pretty perfect day!
