We just returned today from Primary Childrens Hospital and we are just full of new information. We met with a pediatric orthopedic surgeon who specializes in Sarcomas...cancers! He diagnosed Aiden with a Lipo-Sarcoma which is in fact a "cancer", but does't mimic the sympotoms of cancer. There are very, very bad types of Lypo-Sarcomas and then there are not so bad ones that can possibly be non cancer cells, just growing at a very rapid pace. Thankfully, Aiden has the "not-so-bad" one. While they call it a cancer, it cannot spread to other parts of his body. The tumor actually builds a thin sack around itself that prevents it from spreading. So, when they take it out, it will be gone and they don't think that it is likely that there will be any re-growth. Since they are confident that they can remove it in one big lump, they don't think that he will need any follow up treatment. That is the good news!!! The not-good-news is that they can't just make a tiny inscision and suck it out, they have to cut from his knee to the top of his thigh so they can make sure they get it all. That means Aiden will have one mean scar! Imagine the stories he will be able to tell!:)
We were hoping to have the surgery done and over with this weekend, but because the tumor is so large, the surgery will be a little more difficult that we had anticipated. The doctor wants to be prepared for anything, so he is scheduled to have surgery on March 13, and he will have to be in the hospital for 3 days.
We will keep everyone posted on how the surgery goes. Thank you so much to everyone who has expressed your concern. It means so much to us to know that there are so many people pulling for us! We love you all!

Hey Melissa! I am so glad that things worked out "fairly well"! I am relieved that it is not as serious as it could be and I will keep you all in my prayers!
Love you!
Have I mentioned lately, how much WE LOVE YOU GUYS?!?!
Good Luck with everything!!! I am so glad to hear it isn't the bad cancer. So scary anyways. I hope every thing goes well.
the word cancer has to be the most scariest word to hear when it comes to someone you love let only your baby boy. I'm glad it's not the cancer that spreads but major surgery isn't fun with a little guy. I wish you the best, poor kid and poor mom and dad, what a stressful time. Wish you the best.
It is so good to hear things are going to be okay with your little Aiden!
Good luck with the surgery. Give Aiden a little hug for us and let us know how things go. We will continue to keep you all in our prayers.
Thank goodness it isn't as bad as it could be, but I still feel bad for the little guy. I'm praying all goes well for you guys. Good luck!
Good luck with everything.. really that is so hard and so scary, but thank heaven for modern medicine. Atleast they know they can get it out. Someday he will be proud of his "battle wound". :)
We are so RELIEVED to hear it is not cancerous!!!!!! What a blessing. I feel horrible that he has to go through the pain of having it removed. Thankfully it only has to happen once! Poor little guy! Keep us updated with everything.
