Home from Boston!!
On August 10th, after 15 1/2 weeks, my dad FINALLY made it home from Boston! We waited patiently...and a little inpatiently at the airport for almost 2 hours!!
Aiden loved watching all the planes come in, but got rather irritated when one after the other landed without his grandpa! My dad came in on a small private plane that was arranged through his employer, Walker Farms. My Uncle Mike was able to make the plane arrangements and that made it so my dad could come home sooner than if he had had to fly commercial!
The flight was a little rough. Dad was tired and needed oxygen, but he was very glad to be home and surrounded by family!!
He had to have a breathing treatment as soon as he was off the plane and Aiden watched him very closely! He was very curious about why Grandpa was in a wheelchair at first, and why he was breathing steam!
My dad will be a "success story" for the Kindred Rehabilitation Center in Boston Massachusetts, and they asked for a group picture of the Homecoming for their posters! (There are a few people who were there, who are missing from this photo)
We got dad to his wifes mothers house, and got him settled in. That lasted about 3 days, and then we had quite a scare and ended up in the ICU at EIRMC. The altitude was a hard adjustment for him and he was having a hard time catching his breath. He is now on the 4th floor at EIRMC, where we hope he stays until he is 100% ready to be on a home-care regimen!
