Hello from Boston!!

When telling people I was going to go to Boston for two weeks....and why, its still funny to me that most of them said, "Have fun!" Ummmm....so, this is not so much fun! I am very glad that I got to come and spend some time with my dad, but as I am staring out the window at the city, I could think of alot of other things I would rather be doing here in Boston!

My dad has been in the ICU here at Brigham and Womens hospital since the 27th of April....WAY TO LONG!! Just last night, they did move him out of ICU to a step down ward, which has been good for him. They don't "baby" him as much in this ward, so he has to do alot of things on his own, which is exactly what he needs!

2 weeks is a long time to be away from my boys! I miss them terribly! Aiden has been bouncing between "sitters" for the last week, and he thinks its great! He hardly notices that I am gone, which both bothers me and makes me feel better. I called him yesterday and asked him if he wanted me to come home and he said, "Yeah, you can come home and stay at Grandmas with me, and bring the baby too!" I laughed and told him that the baby comes with me no matter what for a little while longer! The fact that he is worried about a sibling he has yet to meet, is funny to me! But, I guess that means he is going to be a great big brother!!

I spend my days being a cheerleader mostly! I am the one watching from a corner as the team of nurses and doctors take care of my dad! They help get him up, and help him stand and they help him wash his hair and brush his teeth. While I am glad that there are places for this kind of stuff, it is extremely hard for me to watch my dad this way! It is like watching your baby take its first steps....so scared for them to fall, but so happy for them to be making progress! I cringe when he stands, I cringe when he doesn't!

My other job is "leg masseur." I have become the go to gal for foot/leg rubs with Purell of all things! Dad has to wear these blood clot socks and they get hot and itchy....the Purell is cooling, and so he like a clean rub down more often then not!

Of course, after the rub, putting the darn socks back on is a workout for me!! I am sure the nurses appreciate me taking them on and off....then they don't have to!

Today is a better day here in Boston. Dad is feeling a little more awake and alert today, and they are going to walk him to x-ray today!! He also gets to have a shower, which I think will make him feel a whole lot more normal! They are hoping tomorrow to maybe be able to take the traych tube out of his throat...oh the party we are going to have in room 77 when that happens!!
