Our Weekend Mini Vacation

This weekend Davids brothers twins turned 2! They had a birthday party on Saturday, so we decided to make a fun little get-away of the weekend. David took Friday off, and we hit the road! We usually have to do our vacationing in the winter when David is off, so summer getaways are few and far between. I was so excited to get away, and spend some much needed down time with just our little family. We had planned to stay with Davids brother, but when those plans fell through, we decided to get a hotel. I got on hotels.com and found a room at the Shilo Inn in Boise. I always thought that Shilo Inn was a very nice place to stay...... not really the case in Boise. It was clean and a place to stay, it was just old....very old. But, the breakfast was wonderful, and the room served its purpose.

Aiden was so happy when we got to the hotel and out of the car!! He did really well in the car, and slept for the most part. You could just tell he was glad to be out of the car seat!!

Friday evening we decided to take Aiden swimming...I thought he would really like it, because he loves the bath tub.

I was wrong!! He didn't like it at all! I think it was a number of factors that made him not like it. It was pretty late when we went, and he was tired, there were about 10 very loud kids in the pool, and the water wasn't extremely warm! Poor kid, he was cold and scared, and I had to have a picture of his "first time in a swimming pool!"

Saturday morning we decided to go to the zoo! It was fun to see Aiden look at the animals. He was so interested, and really liked the big cats. He loves to watch our cat, and he laughs and talks every time he walks by him, so Aiden really liked the tigers and lions!

This is how Aiden spent the last part of the Zoo trip!

The birthday party was at the city park, and Aiden really had fun on the swings!

This was Aidens first taste of a gummy worm! He didn't really like it, but I am sure that he will aquire that taste very soon!!

We had a great trip! It is nice to get away once in a while! We are planning our yearly winter trip to California again this winter, so we have to get Aiden used to the travel thing!

I can't remember if I left a comment on your blog, but I don't think so. Funny how it's such a small world. I only work 1 night a week so it's funny that I was there when you had Aiden. He sure has grown A LOT since then & is such a handsome little man.

No kidding, it is hard to believe that he was once 5lbs!! After he was born he dropped all the way down to 4lbs 4 oz! Now he is a tank!

You know, Matthew still doesn't like the water all that much...I'm hoping I can cure him of that this summer while we're at the pool each morning! :) Aiden is so cute!
